I'm a British travel writer, author and Greece specialist based in Athens. I've been writing professionally about travel for more than 15 years, with a particular focus on Greece, its islands, history, culture and contemporary travel.
I'm a guidebook author for Rough Guides and Lonely Planet, and my work has appeared in The Telegraph, The Times & Times Luxx, The Independent, Condé Nast Traveller, The i Paper, Forbes online, Business Insider, Fodor's and numerous airline publications including easyJet Traveller, Wizz Air and BA Highlife.
I write features, destination pieces, hotel reviews, travel guides and practical travel content, combining first-hand experience with the type of research and detail required by professional travel publishing.
I have lived in Greece since 2008 and have travelled extensively throughout the country; from the better-known islands to lesser-visited parts of the mainland.
A career in travel writing
My career began with a move to Greece in 2008. I originally came to teach English, but stayed and gradually moved into travel writing — first writing about Greece and later expanding into international travel.
Since then, I've worked on guidebooks, commissioned features, destination guides, hotel reviews and travel projects for both print and digital publications.
My guidebook work includes Rough Guides to Greece and Rough Guides to the Greek Islands as well as Lonely Planet titles. In 2025 I compiled the first edition of the Rough Guide to the Peloponnese, alongside new Mini Rough Guides to Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Kefalonia and Zakynthos.
My reporting has also taken me well beyond Greece. I've spent 37 days travelling by container ship from Athens to Hong Kong — an experience that became an essay for a Lonely Planet anthology.
Author
I'm also the author of Girl Gone Greek, my debut novel, published in 2015. The screenplay adaptation won Best Feature Fiction Script at the London Greek Film Festival in 2018 and at the Santorini Film Festival in 2020.

Speaking & presenting
Alongside writing, I speak about travel and Greece at literary and travel events and have presented on cruise ships.
My work as a travel writer has increasingly taken me beyond the traditional article: I contribute to guidebooks, speak to audiences, work with travel companies and tourism organisations, and bring destinations to life through both the written and spoken word.

I particularly welcome commissions relating to Greece, but my international travel experience means I also work on destinations and travel stories further afield.
